Our Story

The typical renovation experience is broken. A homeowner gets three wildly different quotes, picks one, and then spends the next several months chasing updates, managing surprises, and hoping the project gets finished. It's a frustrating, expensive process that hasn't changed much in decades.

Van Bouw was built to fix that. We run jobs the way a construction management firm runs any complex project — scope defined, schedule locked, trades coordinated, quality checked — not the way a crew-based contractor treats project oversight as an afterthought.

We're based in Toronto and serve clients across the Greater Toronto Area — from Etobicoke and Oakville in the west, to Vaughan and Richmond Hill in the north, to Markham in the east.

Alex van Speyk

Co-Founder | Project Manager

Alex came to construction through project management discipline. He treats a renovation the way a PM treats any complex project — defined scope, clear schedule, documented milestones, and transparent reporting to the client at every stage.

On the projects he leads, Alex is the client's primary point of contact. He handles scope, budget, and the communication cadence that keeps homeowners and business owners informed — making sure nothing important falls through the cracks.

Tryfon Bouman-Howell

Co-Founder | Project Manager

Tryfon's background sits at the intersection of trades and construction management. He knows how a house is actually built — which means he also knows how the sequence, the handoffs, and the small decisions can go wrong, and how to prevent it.

On the projects he leads, Tryfon runs the site: sequencing trades, enforcing quality checkpoints, and making the on-the-ground calls that keep a build moving. When conditions change, he's the one the crew hears from first.

We don't disappear after the bulk of the work is done. Deficiency completion, final walkthrough, and client sign-off are part of every project closeout.
